CLIMB MOUNT KILIMANJARO VIA MARANGU ROUTE
The Marangu Route is one of the popular routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. It takes 5 to 6 days and provides a gradual ascent. It has huts for accommodation instead of camping. The route is known for its beautiful rainforest, moorlands, and stunning views. It's considered a moderate difficulty level with well-marked trails. Highlights include the Maundi Crater and the possibility of seeing wildlife. It's a good option for climbers who prefer hut accommodation and a shorter duration.
TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
You'll start your hike at Marangu Gate and hike through rainforest to reach Mandara Hut, which is at an altitude of 2,700 meters. The hike will take about 4-5 hours, and you'll have the chance to spot wildlife like monkeys and birds along the way.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
You'll continue through the rainforest and then enter the heath and moorland zone as you hike to Horombo Hut, which is at an altitude of 3,700 meters. The hike will take about 6-8 hours, and you'll have stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape.
Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
You'll spend a day at Horombo Hut to acclimatize to the altitude. You can take a short hike to Zebra Rocks, which is at an altitude of 3,980 meters, to help your body adjust to the altitude.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
You'll continue through the alpine desert zone as you hike to Kibo Hut, which is at an altitude of 4,700 meters. The hike will take about 6-8 hours, and you'll have amazing views of the glaciers and volcanic features of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Day 5: Summit Day and Descent to Marangu Gate
You'll wake up very early in the morning to start your ascent to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is at an altitude of 5,895 meters. You'll hike in the dark with a headlamp, and you'll reach the summit at sunrise. After taking in the stunning views, you'll begin your descent to Kibo Hut and then continue down to Marangu Gate,
