Full Itinerary

Day 1 : Hotel to Materuni Village

In the morning, you’ll be picked up from your accommodation by an English-speaking Rafiki guide and driven to Materuni Village. The last part of the drive is along a scenic, bumpy road with stunning views of the surrounding forests. Upon arrival, you’ll register at the village office and begin your adventure.

The Materuni Waterfall is about a 40-minute walk from the starting point. The hike is on foot, giving you an authentic and adventurous experience. Along the way, your guide will share stories about Chagga culture, village life, and local flora and fauna. On a clear day, you may even see Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. The waterfall is 80 meters tall, and the natural pool at its base is perfect for a refreshing swim, so bring your swimwear. Adventurous visitors can get close to the waterfall to experience the force of the water.

Local Lunch & Coffee Tour After visiting the waterfall, return to Materuni Village for a traditional Chagga lunch. You’ll also taste local banana beer. Next is the coffee experience: learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted, and processed. You can even help grind the beans while singing and dancing to traditional Chagga songs. Finally, enjoy a cup of your own freshly brewed coffee.
